A well-defined jawline and a smooth, firm neck are among the most reliable markers of a youthful face. Yet even in patients who are otherwise in excellent health, stubborn fat beneath the chin and progressive loss of skin elasticity can undermine facial harmony — often regardless of diet, exercise, or weight.
Traditional solutions have long involved a trade-off: accept modest results from non-invasive treatments, or commit to the recovery demands of a full facelift or conventional liposuction. Today, there is a third option.
At NEU Cosmetic Clinic in London, we combine Endolift® with Micro-Liposuction — an advanced treatment pairing that removes unwanted submental fat and simultaneously tightens the overlying skin. The result is more comprehensive facial rejuvenation than either procedure achieves alone, without the downtime or surgical risk of traditional approaches.
Why the Chin and Jawline Are So Difficult to Treat
Submental fullness — the medical term for what most people call a double chin — is one of the most common aesthetic concerns among both men and women. It stems from three converging factors:
- Genetics, which determines where fat is stored and how skin ages
- Age-related collagen loss, which reduces skin elasticity and causes tissue to sag
- Weight fluctuations, which can deposit fat and stretch skin in ways that don’t fully reverse
Because both excess fat and lax skin are typically involved, treatments that address only one factor often produce disappointing results. Removing fat without tightening the skin can leave the area looking deflated. Tightening skin without addressing underlying fat leaves the underlying fullness intact.
The combination of Endolift® and Micro-Liposuction treats both simultaneously.
What Is Endolift®?
Endolift® is a clinically validated, minimally invasive laser treatment that delivers targeted energy directly beneath the skin using ultra-fine optical fibres. There are no large incisions, no general anaesthetic, and no extended recovery.
Once in position, the laser fibre works in two ways:
- Immediate tissue contraction — the laser energy causes the connective tissue beneath the skin to contract, producing a visible lifting and tightening effect
- Long-term collagen stimulation — the controlled thermal energy triggers new collagen production, which continues to remodel the skin over the following months
Endolift® is particularly well-suited to the lower face and neck, where precision is essential and traditional surgical approaches carry greater risk.
Areas commonly treated with Endolift® at NEU Clinic:
- Double chin and submental area
- Jawline and jowls
- Neck
- Lower face
- Nasolabial folds

What Is Micro-Liposuction?
Micro-Liposuction is a refined, minimally invasive fat-removal technique designed specifically for delicate areas of the face and neck. Unlike conventional liposuction — which uses larger cannulas suited to the body — Micro-Liposuction uses a very fine 15G micro-cannula to gently and precisely remove unwanted fat with minimal trauma to surrounding tissue.
When performed as part of an Endolift® combination treatment, we first use the Endolift® laser to liquefy the fat before removal. This approach — often called laser-assisted lipolysis — makes extraction smoother and more controlled, reduces post-procedural swelling, and allows for more precise contouring than manual fat removal alone.
Micro-Liposuction is used to treat:
- Submental fullness (double chin fat)
- Localised fat beneath the jawline
- Early jowl formation
- Pockets of excess facial fat resistant to other treatments
Why We Combine Both Treatments
When a patient has a meaningful amount of submental fat, we recommend combining Micro-Liposuction with Endolift® in the same session. Here is why this matters clinically:
The Endolift® laser can liquefy modest amounts of fat. However, in patients with more significant submental fullness, leaving that liquefied fat in place — without physically removing it — can lead to a longer, more difficult recovery and a higher risk of suboptimal contour or post-procedural irregularities.
By removing the melted fat with a micro-cannula immediately after laser treatment, we achieve several things:
- Superior contour definition with more predictable results
- Faster, more comfortable recovery with less prolonged swelling
- Reduced complication risk compared with leaving excess liquefied fat in situ
- Better skin retraction because the Endolift® energy simultaneously encourages the overlying skin to contract as the volume beneath it reduces
This is a more sophisticated approach than laser treatment or liposuction used independently — and it is reflected in both the quality and durability of the results.
What This Combination Achieves
Sharper Jawline Definition
Removing submental fat slims the lower facial profile, while Endolift® tightens the overlying tissue and enhances contour — creating a more defined, sculpted jaw.
Firmer, Smoother Skin
The laser energy delivered during Endolift® stimulates collagen remodelling that continues for months after treatment. Skin becomes progressively firmer and more elastic over time.
Natural-Looking Results
This is not a fat-removal procedure with an incidental tightening effect. It is a comprehensive reshaping of the lower-face anatomy — producing balanced, proportionate results that look like you at your best, not like you’ve had a procedure.
Reduced Risk of Skin Laxity
One of the legitimate concerns following any fat-reduction treatment is skin redundancy: the tissue left behind when volume is removed. By combining fat removal with simultaneous skin contraction, Endolift® actively mitigates this risk — particularly important in the face and neck, where loose skin is especially noticeable.
Are You a Suitable Candidate?
This treatment may be well-suited to you if:
- You have a double chin or submental fat that has not responded to diet and exercise
- You have mild to moderate skin laxity in the lower face or neck
- You are experiencing early jowl formation
- You want meaningful facial contouring results without surgery
- You are in good general health and a non-smoker (or willing to pause smoking around the procedure)
- You have realistic expectations about outcomes and recovery
The most accurate assessment comes from a personal consultation. At NEU Clinic, we conduct an ultrasound assessment as part of treatment planning to evaluate the depth and distribution of fat deposits and assess skin quality before recommending a treatment approach.
What Happens During the Procedure
The treatment is performed under local anaesthetic and typically takes 60 to 90 minutes.
The procedure follows this sequence:
- In-depth consultation and treatment planning
- Ultrasound assessment and facial mapping to guide treatment
- Administration of local anaesthetic to the treatment area
- Endolift® laser fibre placement beneath the skin
- Laser-assisted lipolysis to liquefy submental fat
- Micro-Liposuction to remove melted fat via a fine micro-cannula
- Delivery of additional laser energy to tighten tissue and stimulate collagen
Patients return home the same day. The combination of local anaesthetic and the minimally invasive nature of the procedure means most patients are comfortable throughout.
Recovery: What to Expect
Compared with traditional liposuction or facelift surgery, the recovery period is significantly shorter. Here is a realistic timeline:
Days 1–3
Mild swelling, tenderness, and a feeling of tightness in the treated area are normal. Rest is advised. Sleeping with your head elevated and staying well hydrated will help manage swelling. Compression garments are essential during this phase and should be worn continuously for the first 5–7 days.
Days 4–7
Swelling and any bruising begin to settle noticeably. Most patients feel comfortable returning to desk-based work and light social activities. Gentle walking is encouraged to support circulation.
Weeks 2–4
The majority of visible swelling resolves. Newly contoured facial lines become clearer. Skin tightening continues to develop as collagen production increases.
Months 3–6
Many patients see their most impressive results during this window. Collagen remodelling continues beneath the surface, further improving skin firmness, elasticity, and contour definition. Results at six months typically represent the final outcome.
Aftercare Guidance
Good aftercare protects your investment in the treatment and helps maximise your results.
Wear your compression garment as instructed — it reduces swelling, supports tissue healing, and helps skin contract evenly over the treated area.
Stay well hydrated — drinking plenty of water supports recovery and reduces fluid retention.
Eat a balanced diet — a protein-rich diet with reduced sodium helps minimise swelling and supports tissue repair in the weeks following treatment.
Avoid smoking and excess alcohol — smoking impairs collagen synthesis and healing; alcohol can increase swelling during the early recovery period.
Attend all follow-up appointments — your practitioner will monitor your progress and can advise on any additional support if needed.
