Stem cell enriched fat transfer — sometimes called a nanofat facelift or SVF (stromal vascular fraction) enriched fat grafting — is an advanced form of autologous fat transfer. What ultrasound guidance actually does

Is this the same as a dermal filler?
Will I need much donor fat?
Why is ultrasound guidance used, and does it make the treatment safer?
Yes — it’s a key part of how we minimise risk. The face contains a complex web of blood vessels that varies from person to person, and inadvertently injecting into one is the most significant risk associated with any facial injection procedure. By using live ultrasound imaging during reinjection, we can see the precise location and depth of your vessels as we treat you, guiding the cannula safely around them rather than relying on anatomical landmarks and feel alone. It also helps us place the fat exactly where it will integrate best, supporting more predictable, natural-looking results.
Does it hurt?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, so discomfort during treatment is minimal. Some tenderness, swelling and bruising afterwards is normal and typically manageable with over-the-counter pain relief.
How long do results last?
A proportion of the transferred fat is reabsorbed by the body in the weeks following treatment, which is normal and factored into our planning. The fat that successfully takes can provide results lasting a year or considerably longer, and many patients choose a top-up session for optimal, lasting outcomes.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Many patients combine fat transfer with PRP therapy for an added regenerative boost, or with complementary treatments such as skin resurfacing, as part of a broader facial rejuvenation plan.
How many treatments are needed?
Initial swelling can make it hard to judge results in the first couple of weeks. As swelling resolves and the graft integrates, you’ll begin to see your true results emerge over the following one to three months.
When will I see results?
Most patients experience swelling, redness and mild bruising for around five to seven days. The majority of visible swelling resolves within ten to fourteen days, after which results become progressively more apparent. Most patients return to desk-based work within a few days, though we advise avoiding strenuous exercise for one week. Full social downtime is typically seven to ten days.
